Fumed Plane Tree (Snakeskin) Wood Veneer
Wood Veneer Description
Fumed Plane Tree veneer—sometimes called “snakeskin” or lacewood plane—is celebrated for its pale to medium reddish-grey heartwood, which is deepened and mellowed by fuming to rich grey-brown tones. The veneer features very distinctive “snakeskin” or “lacewood” flecking from the rays when quarter-cut, creating an expressive pattern that adds character and depth to any surface. The texture is fine and even, with a straight to slightly interlocked grain in places. The fuming process enhances colour stability, giving a more three-dimensional patina.
Typically available in quarter-cuts (true quarters) to maximise the lace or snakeskin ray figure. Fumed Plane Tree finishes beautifully, with flecking and grain highlighted by gloss or satin finishes.
Please note: Width measurements are taken at the sheet’s midpoint. Natural tapering means the width may be slightly more or less than stated; please allow some extra or contact us for exact dimensions.
