Installation & Downloads The Acupanel® range has been designed to be installed with ease. We recommend either screwing the panels straight into the wall, using the correct fixings, through the acoustic felt or if you are looking to increase the sound properties further, screwing them into batons. If installing on ceilings, the panels can be screwed straight into ceiling joists.

When cutting your panels, it's important to check where you are cutting in relation to the backing staples. If you cut the panels close to the staples, you may notice some slats lifting away from the backing where the panel has been cut. This is completely normal and is quickly rectified by adding additional staples through the backing felt or using a grab adhesive on the back of the slats.

What sets it apart

Certified to B-s1, d0

Tested and certified to EN 13501-1:2018, Class B-s1, d0. Limited contribution to fire, low smoke, zero flaming droplets. Fire-rated plywood core and felt backing.

Acoustic performance

Recycled PET felt core absorbs mid-range frequencies where voices carry. Reduces echo and reverberation without secondary treatment.

Real wood. Always.

Hand-selected real wood veneer, never vinyl wrap or printed grain. Each panel carries natural variation in tone and texture.

Easy to install

Adhesive or screw-fix direct to wall. No subframe, no specialist tools. Most rooms completed in a day.

Residential and commercial

Specified by architects, fitted by homeowners. Same panel, same finish, same result. From living rooms to hotel lobbies.

Sizes for every wall

From 120cm to 360cm lengths. Choose the size that reduces cuts and waste for your specific wall dimensions.

Recycled felt backing

Acoustic backing made from recycled PET. The same material that performs acoustically keeps the material loop closed. Each panel diverts plastic bottles from landfill.

Certified for safety. Built for silence.

Every Acupanel® Fire-Rated panel carries a B-s1, d0 Euroclass fire rating, tested to EN 13501-1:2018. Fire-rated plywood replaces the MDF substrate, delivering the compliance commercial projects demand without changing the surface you see.

Available in both standard and wide-slat formats, each panel pairs real wood veneer with a recycled acoustic felt core. The look stays the same. The peace of mind is the difference.

Frequently asked questions

The Acupanel® Fire-Rated range is classified B-s1, d0 to EN 13501-1:2018. This means limited contribution to fire spread, very low smoke production, and no flaming droplets. Full fire test certificates are available on request for specification purposes.

Fire-rated panels are required in commercial buildings, escape routes, public spaces, and anywhere building regulations specify reaction-to-fire performance. If your project has a fire safety requirement, the Acupanel® Fire-Rated range achieves B-s1, d0 classification to EN 13501-1:2018.

FSC chain-of-custody documentation is available for most finishes in the Acupanel® Fire-Rated range. Contact our team with your project specification and we will confirm FSC status for your chosen finish.

Fire-rated panels use a fire-retardant plywood core instead of the standard MDF substrate, paired with the same real wood veneer face. They are slightly heavier and must be screw-fixed or batten-mounted to retain their certified fire performance. The full B-s1, d0 rating applies when panels are installed on an A2-s1, d0 gypsum plasterboard substrate or any non-combustible substrate with a minimum density of 525 kg/m³, with no air gap behind.

The B-s1, d0 fire rating is valid when Acupanel® Fire-Rated panels are installed on an A2-s1, d0 gypsum plasterboard substrate with no air gap behind, or on any non-combustible substrate of at least 525 kg/m³ density. Both vertical and horizontal slat orientations are covered. Installation into an open stud wall cavity without the correct substrate will invalidate the fire rating.

No. To maintain the certified B-s1, d0 fire rating, Acupanel® Fire-Rated panels must be mechanically fixed, either screwed directly to the substrate or screw-fixed to 45mm timber battens with insulation in the cavity. Adhesive-only installation voids the fire certification.

Both share the same B-s1, d0 fire rating and acoustic performance. The Standard panel uses 31mm slats with 15mm spacing for a classic linear profile. The Luxe panel uses 40mm slats with 10mm spacing for a wider, bolder architectural look. Both are 21mm thick and available in 2480mm or 3000mm heights.

Yes. Acupanel® Fire-Rated panels are certified for both wall and ceiling use. For ceiling installation, panels must be screwed into structural joists or battens to support the weight (11.9 to 14.5 kg per panel) and to maintain fire performance. Adhesive is not sufficient for ceiling applications.

Insulation is not required to achieve the B-s1, d0 fire rating. It is required to reach Class A acoustic performance. Fit 45mm timber battens to the substrate, install acoustic insulation such as Rockwool between the battens, then screw the panels through the felt into the battens.

We offer free delivery to mainland UK on most orders. Delivery to Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland, and offshore islands incurs a surcharge calculated at checkout. You are also welcome to collect from our warehouse in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.

You can return unused products within 30 days of delivery. Items must be in their original, undamaged packaging. Refunds are processed once we receive and inspect the return. For full terms including sample returns, visit our returns page or contact our customer service team.

We photograph every product as accurately as possible. Because we use real wood and natural materials, subtle variations in grain pattern and tone occur between production batches. This is a characteristic of genuine wood, not a defect. We always recommend ordering a sample to confirm the colour and texture in your own lighting.

Acupanel® Fire-Rated Panel FAQ

How do the panels arrive?

The Acupanel® wall panels are shipped in boxes - if more than one panel is ordered, we pack two panels to a box. For bulk fire-rated panel orders, they may be delivered on pallets or on our dedicated van service. If you have any specific packaging requirements for your fire-rated panels, please contact our sales team to place your order.

Do the panels come in larger sizes?

Our fire-rated panels are available exclusively in 248cm x 60cm and 300cm x 60cm panel sizes.

How do I install the panels?

Our fire-rated panels must be installed following our installation guide in our technical sheet. Not following the installation instructions can invalidate the fire-rating and acoustic rating of your panel. You can find the technical sheet with full installation instructions here.

Do you produce custom panel sizes?

We do not currently offer the fire-rated panels in custom sizes; however, we have designed them to be easily cut if you need smaller. They also join together seamlessly if you need to cover a larger area.

Do you offer other colours?

We offer six different wood finishes in the Acupanel® Fire-Rated collection, including oak, walnut, smoked oak and pine. We can produce one-off custom colours - if you have a specific panel colour in mind, please contact our sales team who can assist you further.

Can the panels be used in a bathroom or kitchen?

The panels will be absolutely fine in these areas, as long as they are not in direct contact with water. An additional water-resistant finish is recommended for fitting in high humidity or high moisture areas, however, please contact our sales team prior to applying an additional finish to your fire-rated panels to ensure you do not invalidate the fire-rating.

Can the acoustic fire-rated panels be used outside?

The Acupanel® Fire-Rated Acoustic range is designed for interior use only.

What do I do if I have plug sockets, windows or other items to install around?

It is straightforward to adjust the panels to fit around any object. You can cut the slats widthways with a saw, and you can cut the felt lengthways with a sharp blade to then apply around any item you may have on your surface.

On which surfaces can I install the panels?

You can mount the panels on all surfaces including brick, concrete and plasterboard. For our fire-rated panels, a fire-rated substrate is required for installation. For further installation on suitable substrates, please speak to our sales team, or review our fire-rated panel technical sheet.

Do the colours of the pictures look like the panels in real life?

The wood used is always from the same source so they will always look more or less the same. It is natural wood, however, so knots, slight cracks and colour variations can occur. Get in touch if you would like us to send you pictures of the exact batch you could potentially receive.

How can I hide the edges of the fire-rated panel?

The panels have been designed to have the edge exposed, with the layered plywood always visible along the side of the slats. When cutting through the slats, you will see the layers of plywood used. The Luxe fire-rated panels are not a wrapped finish, and the plywood will be visible on the side of the slats.

Can I hide wires behind the panels?

You certainly can! When installing the fire-rated panels on battens, we recommend drilling holes into the battens as required, to feed any wires through that run along the back of the panel.

Can I apply anything behind the panels to increase sound insulation?

Yes, you can! To achieve the full b s1,d0 fire-rating and class A sound absorption, an acoustic-rated insulation must be used as part of the install.

Why should I opt for a finished panel?

It is always advised to finish natural wood to protect it and, more importantly, to make it look even better than it already does by enhancing the wood grain. Our fire-rated panels come pre-finished with a fire-rated treatment, so you can install the panels straight away.

Please be aware that this is a fire-rated finish, and does not offer protection against water, high humidity, or UV light. If the panels will be exposed to any of these elements, we recommend using a finish that protects against it, but please speak to our sales team prior to adding any additional finishes, to avoid invalidating the fire-rated finish of the panels.

Do I need a fully fire-rated panel?

In some instances, fire-rated panels are requested as they are specified for a project. This might be because they will be on a fire escape route, or in a government building, where materials used need to meet certain standards. A fully-fire rated panel is more commonly found in commercial spaces, but it doesn't mean you can't find them in your home. If you want extra security and peace of mind in case of a fire, you may choose to opt for our fully fire-rated panel, that contribute little to no smoke if they ignite.

If you would like to learn more about our fire-rated panels, and why we at WVH® pride ourselves on our fire-rated panel offering, please speak to our customer care team today.

Do you deliver the panels?

We do, and we offer free delivery to mainland UK for the Acupanel® range! You are also welcome to collect directly from our warehouse where pre-arranged.
