Installation & Downloads There are a few stages to applying the Polyx®-Oil Effect Raw Oil Finish:
Prepare your surface: ensure your wood surface is clean and dry before applying the finish, removing any stains and surface grime. Where relevant, sand off old paints and lacquers to ensure an even surface finish. Fill in any large holes or cracks in the wood, and brush off any excess dust and filler.
Application: apply a thin, even layer of the oil with a microfiber roller or a light rag. Wipe off any visible white pigments before allowing to dry. Allow to dry for 24 hours in a well-ventilated area.
Reapplication: we recommend applying two coats of oil, to ensure the wood is protected as best as possible from knocks, water and dirt. Apply a second thin layer after the initial drying period, and allow to dry again for 24 hours.

Osmo® Oil FAQ
How do I apply the finish?
How do I maintain a surface finished with Osmo® oil?
All Osmo products can be maintained with a regular surface clean. Simply wiping off the dust will be enough in most cases. For visible signs of wear, you can reapply the finish as needed.
Why do I have a white effect after applying the Polyx-Oil® Effect Raw?
If the white pigments remain visible on the surface, this is a result of the oil not penetrating the surface properly.
This can happen due to a number of reasons including:
- Over application
- A lack of removing the excess
- Poor application method e.g. application against the grain
We recommend a light sanding of the surface, before attempting reapplication. For more information, please contact our customer service team.
Why is the finish not drying?
There are a few reasons why the finish may not be drying. The most common reason is that too thick a layer has been applied. To resolve this, we recommend wiping off the excess, and moving the finished product to a well-ventilated area, to speed up the drying process.
Can I recoat an unknown surface finish?
We do not recommend applying Osmo® products directly onto an unknown finish. We recommend sanding back to the natural wood, or doing a test patch on the finish first.
Why should I opt for a finished panel?
It is always advised to finish natural wood to protect it and, more importantly, to make it look even better than it already does. We now offer a decorative satin oil-finished panel for our Contemporary Oak and Contemporary Walnut panels, to take out the hassle of finishing the panels yourself. Please note that this is a decorative finish only, providing no protection against heat, water or humidity.
Do you deliver the product?
We do, and and all delivery charges are calculated at checkout. You are also welcome to collect directly from our warehouse.
What is your return policy?
You can return unused product within 30 days after delivery.
