Overview

Meet the Drew & Jonathan Home™ Ultraflex in oak: an engineered acoustic slat wall panel developed in collaboration with WVH®, built around the iconic Acupanel® slat profile and reimagined for the walls that need a lighter touch.

At 7mm total thickness, the Ultraflex is over 10mm thinner than the core range. That is not a small difference. It makes the panel genuinely flexible, light enough to handle alone, and fast to install on both flat and curved surfaces. The acoustic performance is unchanged: the same great sound absorption as the core Acupanel® range, in a panel that asks far less of the wall and the person fitting it. The slat spacing differs from the standard range, so accessories from the core range are not compatible, but the visual language is unmistakably the same.

In oak, the Ultraflex uses an engineered veneer: a deliberately straight, even grain that holds its tone consistently across every panel and every batch. Two panels per box, supplied rolled in a tube for safer transit. 240 x 30cm or 300 x 30cm. Adhesive installation only, no rails or fixings required. Free UK delivery available.

Installation & Downloads

Remove the panels from the tube and allow them to unroll on a flat surface, then leave them to acclimatise for 48 hours. Ensure the wall is clean, dry, and flat. Apply grab adhesive to the back of the panel in a zigzag pattern and press firmly into position. For curved surfaces, the panel will flex into place with minimal force. Butt each subsequent panel tight to the last, trim to size with a fine-tooth saw cutting from the face side, and allow the adhesive to cure fully before use. No rails, no clips, no visible fixings.

Acupanel® Ultraflex Engineered FAQs

How do the panels arrive?

The Acupanel® Ultraflex Engineered wall panels are shipped in boxes - these come with two panels per box, as ordered. The panels arrive rolled in a tube. It is the safest way to transport a panel this thin and flexible. Rolling eliminates the risk of the panel warping or being damaged in transit. When they arrive, unroll them on a flat surface and allow them to settle for 48 hours before installation.

What sizes are available?

The Acupanel® Ultraflex Engineered comes in two sizes: 240 x 30cm and 300 x 30cm. Each box contains two panels. Choose the longer format for fewer joins on a tall wall, or the shorter for easier handling in tighter spaces.

Which finishes can I order?

Oak and walnut, both in an engineered veneer. Order a free sample first. The engineered grain is deliberately consistent, but the tone reads differently in different light conditions and alongside different materials. It is worth seeing it in your space before committing to a full wall.

How do I install the panels?

Adhesive to the wall, panel to the adhesive. No rails, no clips, no visible fixings. The full installation guide is linked here. The surface needs to be clean, dry, and flat. Allow 48 hours for the panels to acclimatise before installation.

Can I cut the panels to size?

Yes. Use a sharp, fine-tooth saw to cut across the width or length of the panel. Apply masking tape along the cut line to reduce splintering, then sand lightly if needed.

Can the panels be used in a bathroom or kitchen?

The acoustic felt backing provides resilience during installation and in areas of occasional moisture. They are not designed for prolonged water exposure or for use in steam rooms. For bathrooms, use them on walls away from showers or baths, where humidity is the main consideration rather than direct water contact.

Can I use the panels around a shower or splashback?

Standard wood panels and acoustic felt backing are not waterproof and should not be used in direct water contact areas such as shower enclosures or behind kitchen splashbacks. For bathrooms, panels work well on dry walls away from the shower zone. For kitchen splashbacks, we recommend glass or tile behind the hob and panels on adjacent walls.

Can the Acupanel® Ultraflex Engineered panels be used outside?

Ultraflex panels are designed for interior use only. They are not weatherproof. For outdoor applications, see our Plaank® composite range or our Nordic Outdoor® thermally modified wood range.

Do the panels compromise on acoustic performance compared to the core range?

No. The Ultraflex holds almost the same NRC acoustic rating as the core Acupanel® range. The reduction in thickness does not reduce the acoustic properties. You get a thinner, lighter panel without giving anything back on performance.

Is Ultraflex fire-rated?

No. Ultraflex panels do not carry a fire rating. For fire-rated specifications, see our Acupanel® Fire-Rated range.

Do the panels come ready to fit?

Yes. The surface arrives ready to go up. If you would like to apply a wood oil or treatment to alter or deepen the tone over time, test on a sample first to confirm the result before committing to the full installation. Apply any oils before installing for a clean, even finish.

Do the colours in the photos match the real product?

We photograph every product as accurately as possible. Because we use real wood and natural materials, subtle variations in grain pattern and tone occur between production batches. This is a characteristic of genuine wood, not a defect. We always recommend ordering a sample to confirm the colour and texture in your own lighting.

How do I care for the panels once fitted?

A soft, dry or lightly damp cloth is all you need. Avoid abrasive cleaners, bleach, or solvents. Real wood veneer ages well when it is left to do so.

Why is an engineered veneer used instead of a natural veneer?

Consistency. Engineered veneer is produced to deliver a straight, even grain across every panel and every batch. Where natural veneer varies in tone and figure from board to board, engineered veneer holds its character reliably across an entire installation and across reorders. For a wall that needs to read as one surface, that consistency matters.

What is the Drew & Jonathan Home™ collaboration?

Drew and Jonathan Scott, The Property Brothers, have been working with WVH® over the past year to bring a range of panels to market that reflect their approach to renovation: real materials, genuine quality, nothing decorative for its own sake. Their name is on the box because they were involved in making what is in it.

What makes the Ultraflex panel different from the core Acupanel® range?

Three things: thickness, weight, and flexibility. At 7mm total, the Ultraflex is over 10mm thinner than the core range. That reduction in material makes it significantly lighter and genuinely flexible, so it can follow curved surfaces that rigid panels cannot. The acoustic performance is unchanged. You are not trading one quality for another.

Why is a flexible panel better for my project?

Most wall panels are rigid. They work beautifully on flat walls, but they cannot follow a curve. The Ultraflex can, with one important consideration: because of its concave profile, the panel can only flex to wrap convex curves without changing the panel spacing. It cannot be reversed to follow a concave recess without distorting the slat spacing. If your space has that kind of curvature, a flexible panel is not a compromise. It is the right tool.

Will the Ultraflex panels work with the Acupanel® accessories?

No. The Ultraflex has a different slat spacing from the standard range. This means it is not compatible with Acupanel® accessories designed for the core range. If you are planning to use trim, finishing pieces, or other accessories, check compatibility before ordering.
